A bit of music to watch out for…

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Considering we’ve predicted multiple groups / acts way before they blow, here, yeah right here, on this website. And considering, we were working with Kesha 6 months before she inked her deal and a good 12 months before she had a single out. Considering i’ve got an ear like a fucking hit magnet. Yes. I said it. A pop hit magnet. I’m going to keep the tradition alive. Here are a few acts to watch out for as they continue their everlasting “come up”. Not saying I condone the music, im saying it has mass, radio appeal.

What a Week

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

So check it, after being up at Burney Falls for like 4 amazing lake and drinking filled days, we cruised down to Chico to kick it with Jahann or Johan or how ever he spells it. What I’m about to talk about will be more for those of you in Florida as I would imagine most everyone right around here knows what I am talking about. I’m talking about The Expendables. I knew my buddy works for them and has told me how legit their shit is but when I was there on Saturday night and saw them for the first time… Well it turns out he wasn’t lying, they are legit. Check them out, it’s like a Reggae-Party-Punk sound that allowes them to have songs that rock a mosh pit and songs that are hella chill. It was rad to see what looked to be about 1000 people knowing every word to every song they sang. So if you are in Florida or somewhere else and don’t know them, you better ask somebody and check them out (they are going on tour starting next month).

After the show the streets of Chico were absolutely jam packed with students and non partying like crazy, hit a few house parties and a few bars and a few games of beer pong later it was a 5 am affair that included a drive through visit in a cab. All in all a good F’ing time….

Nas is relentless - delivering petition of 620,000 signatures to fox news.

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Nas is at it again, for those of you that don’t know, we posted nas’s new video for his single “sly fox” last week. Apparently nas isn’t letting fox news punk him, or at least he’s trying to not let it go down. I like nas, a lot of people hate on him, but dude is a beast in my book. Fox news is fuckin wack, and I am sorry if my views are slighted, or bias, but I don’t give a fuck - fuck fox news.

Apparently Nas will hand deliver a petition of 620,127 signatures to fox news headquarters this wednesday, July 23rd, “demanding that FOX end its pattern of racist attacks against Black Americans including presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.”

“Over the last several weeks, FOX has had a string of incidents that many believe are a veiled attempt to prey on racism and intolerance and cast the Obamas as “outsiders”: an on-screen graphic referred to Mrs. Obama as “Obama’s baby mama,” a pundit “confused” Obama with Osama and then joked they should both be assassinated, and an anchor called a loving fist bump between Barack and Michelle a “terrorist fist jab.” In February, Bill O’Reilly talked about calling a “lynching party” to deal with Michelle.” Read the whole story here, at concreteloop.com

Mid-Life Crisis for Forgotten Celebs

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Alright so if you haven’t heard yet, “New Kids on The Block” are back. I am assuming the media is going to have a field day with this one. These guys are really stretching for some attention. I guess being a child star means that once you are actually old enough to party, you’re already a nobody that no one wants to be friends with; hence the title of this post. This video is an absolute joke, we all hoped they would disappear the first time; but here they are back again to haunt our dreams.

All five original band members are back in the band: Brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight, Danny Wood, Joey Mc Intyre, and finally Donnie Wahlberg. Donnie always was my favorite; he’s such a bad ass! (Watch the video). Oh, and by the way I am sure that the cars, boat, and helicopter are all really theirs; I mean with all the money they’ve been making since their careers tanked in the 90’s. The video has some awesome ipod commercial like poses, and the choreography is “AMAZING”!!!

All I have to say is “It’s On”!

getting your music legally

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

now its been an ongoing battle for the music industry against our generation since Napster flipped the game upside down. i think the days of copyright infringment will come to an end but not so soon. With Google (the most dominant corporation on the planet) having to turn over users ip addresses who are uploading copyrighted Viacom content its one more blow to the P2P privacy armor. Theres so many LEGAL ways to get music without having to worry about getting in trouble. so heres a list of sites you should start getting familiar with:

Ruckus: Props to Bobby for showing me this great player. Ruckus allows college students who register their email address with them the ability to download ANY album you want on to your computer and play through their player. Sorry you cant upload to iPOD but you get everything at your fingertips for FREE.

Pandora: i have to give credit to my boy Craig for introducing to me this site sometime last semester. Pandora is great because it allows you to create your own private radio stations to your liking so you dont have to listen to trash that you dont like. You can also listen to your friends stations as well.

Hype Machine: This is one of my favs. Its great for finding remixes by DJs. Hype Machine scours the internet’s top music blogs and pulls together all mp3’s it finds on these sites into a simple search function (pretty cool huh). You have the option to preview on their site but you follow a link to the original website and download the track. YOU CAN FIND ANYTHING! it updates every minute!

MOG: This is a site i just started using in the past weeks but its boundaries are endless. Its more of a social networking music site where people share their libraries, songs, blogs, and other crap. You also get a lot of great music news directly from fans and their are lots of celebrity bloggers. You can rate bloggers and the better ranking you have the more credible your input will climb up their search tools.

check some of these great sites and feel free to comment on some your using i can always use another place to find great music.
