Guns N Roses vs Dr. Pepper…..my favorite soda shall win.

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

So the stage was set for Guns N Roses last week to proclaim their spot back on top as an elite rock band and Dr. Pepper took notice because they too have waited like many fans for over a decade for the release of Chinese Democracy. So Dr. Pepper in a very smart marketing scheme decided to offer a free 20 oz soda on Nov. 23rd the release date of Chinese Democracy (Dr. Pepper also claims to have 23 flavors…AHHHH.) Thats right folks you get a free Dr. Pepper and you don’t even have to go waste $10.99 on the new G’N & R album. Sounds pretty good eh? Except something happened. We all love free shwag so everyone flooded the Dr. Pepper website and crashed the server forcing many coupon clippers not to receive the free coupon. So G’N & R turns around and sues Dr. Pepper. HUH? EXCUSE ME? G’N & R demands a public apology and monetary returns for fans…..yea Axl like your fans are ever going to see a dime. I can’t wait to see how this story unfolds.

really want to see this documentary.

No label deal? No budget? No problem. Meet Blu.

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

I am typing here today to let you all in on a little secret. Rarely in todays music scene do you stumble across a talented, fresh, new face. Especially in hip hop. The synth-laden over processed vocals mixed with the electro pop riffs that lace todays hip hop music scene are dope, don’t get me wrong, but there’s something about an ill, real instrument snatched sample that will never fail to kick you in the stomach and make your head bob. When you combine a dope sample driven beat with a nasty lyricist, someone who knows how to breathe, duck the kick, duck the snare and consistently write 3+ syllables deep you’ve got gold. Ladies and gentleman, I am proud today to introduce you to Blue.

Hailing from the fucking metropolis that is LA this dude is dope. Not dope like kanye getting techno’d out over some drums, dope like brother ali meets cage, throws a little common in the mix and stirs it up with some tupac. That dope. So there you have it, my stamp of approval, meet Blu.

Harper to play Obama Rally in Denver tomorrow

Friday, October 24th, 2008

According to the Denver Backbeat:
The Obama campaign just announced that singer-songwriter Ben Harper will play “a few songs” at a rally in Civic Center Park on Saturday, to encourage people to vote for Barack Obama. Opening odds that someone shouts out “Burn One Down” at a highly inappropriate time: 1:5.

(Obama won’t be there Saturday, but he will be in that park for a rally on Sunday).

Harper will perform at noon. The rally will run from 9 a.m. till 1 p.m., after which everyone will go home, pop in Fight For Your Mind, smoke a bowl and forget everything that was said. God Bless America.

Ben Harper is the shit and i am stoked to be in town the day he is set to play an Obama Rally even if I am not able to attend. Gothic Theatre tomorrow night in Denver.

thought i would drop everyone a line. My lack of contribution to this site probably has been visible. Based on the sheer fact that my life can be broken down into a constant tour book. Life on the road has left very little time to catch up on events that are shaping the political, economic, and social issues. I have gotten though an amazing opportunity to travel this country and have enjoyed almost every minute of it. We are a little over the half way point and their are still over 20 shows to play. Road Zombie status has been achieved and my spirit was certainly broken in Towson, MD. Looking forward to what this last month of tour holds and what doors open up in the near future. See you all soon as we make our way back to the West Coast.
